How to become a volunteer:
First: Apply!
1) Interested individuals are asked to apply via an application(attached below). Hard copies of the applications are available onsite at 90 New Haven Avenue Milford, CT 06460 (they can also be snail mailed to you, upon request- please call our office).
2) Complete background and reference checks (this is done by the organization)
The screening and background check process is essential to maintain the integrity of the organization and ensure the safety of those we serve. Beth-El Center, Inc. reserves the right to decline a volunteer's service based on the results of the background and reference check.
Second: Orientation
All volunteers are required to attend a volunteer orientation. Following the orientation, volunteers will be scheduled to come in for their first shift. Volunteers will receive a description of duties and expectations for their assigned positions.
Orientation are via ZOOM and scheduled for the 1st Wednesday of the month from 2-3pm.
Third: Training
Beth-El Center, Inc. training is conducted to enhance your volunteer services. Position-specific training will be led by the volunteer's supervisor and department manager and includes shadowing of currently assigned volunteers. Training is offered at times that are convenient for each volunteer
Beth-El Center strives to alleviate homelessness and hunger in the Milford to Guilford shoreline and lower Naugatuck Valley areas through shelter, support services, advocacy and community education in partnership with the faith-based community and in collaboration with the public and private organizations and in collaboration with public and private organizations.
