What do we offer?
A Beth-El Center Certified SOAR representative is someone who can work with you to apply for SSI and SSDI (Social Security Income/Social Security Disability Insurance)
We will assist you with forms, gathering information, writing your Medical Summary Report.
This service is free and only for those who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness and have a verifiable disability according to Social Security Administration
Social Security Income
·Eligibility based on need: low income and resources; living arrangement.
·Monthly amount based of Federal benefit rate $914/month in 2023
·Date of eligibility based on Protective Filing Date/Application date
·Health Care Medicaid
Social Security Disability Insurance
·Eligibility based on insurance status (FICA payments).
·Monthly amount based on earning history.
·Date of eligibility based on "date of onset" of disability- 5 month waiting period.
·Health insurance; Medicare- 2 year waiting period for Medicare
Program Requirements
Experiencing Homelessness:
• Lack of fixed, regular, an adequate nighttime residence or/
• Will be and imminent risk of homelessness less than 14 days.
At Risk of Homelessness
Financial Requirements:
• Earns less than 30% of median family income, and
• Insufficient resources/supportive network available to prevent homelessness
Additional Factors:
• 1 or more risk factors of homelessness (e.g., recent housing instability, exiting a publicly funded institution or system of care.)
